BACKGROUND

Shereen joined Hazelton Law in 2023 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in March 2024. Shereen has experience in the areas of construction law and insurance law. Previous work examples include:

• Advising on a broad range of construction disputes, including claims involving breach of contract, defective workmanship and delays.
• Advising on payment disputes, variations, extensions of time, suspension of works, cancellation and other issues arising under construction contracts.
• Acting for contractors in adjudication proceedings under the Construction Contracts Act 2002.
• Contract drafting and review for contractors, subcontractors and homeowners.
• Advising insurers on coverage disputes including review of insurance complaints, insurance claims, and engaging with external dispute resolution bodies.
• Advising on legislative changes, recent case-law, and other matters affecting the construction industry.
